I once spent a weekend on Earth, With two men (of science; and god) One man convinced me I did not exist, And the other that I was a fraud. In both men I saw the same reason, In bothmen i saw the same light, So I left for another dimension, Assuming that both men were right."- The AlienFrom the novel 'Ineffable C. Sean McGee
About This Quote

The Alien is a novel written by Ted Chiang, first published in 2005. The book tells the story of an astronaut who wakes up one morning on Earth, having no memory of what happened during her last mission. She goes to see her boss, who tells her that she was brainwashed by aliens and has been sent to Earth to gather information about humanity, before she is sent back into space. The first man that the astronaut meets is the first alien that meets humans on Earth, who explains that he has spent years trying to find evidence of alien life, but hasn’t found any.

When the astronaut asks if there are aliens on Earth, he explains that there are; he just hasn’t found them yet. He offers to let her go home if she promises not to tell anyone about Earth.
